Default SC Air filter/inlet modification ?

I noticed that compared to the air filter surface, the air inlet in seems way too small. also, what looks like a ram-air inlet is actually blocked when the hood closes !
Has any one looked into improving the situation?

Does K&N filter element/ if it exisits for the SC, make any difference?

We need to open up the air box and let this thing breath better!

The first thing we do on motorcycles (dirt bikes) is to open up the air box more which makes a noticeable difference. . . . esp. on certain models like suzuki DRZs. . . .

What are your experiences on this?

thanks

JJ,

I've been looking for a filter charger kit also. From experience, I've always opened up both the intake and exhaust on all my cars.
It made a difference of .3 seconds in the 1/4 mile on my 98' VR4 and also a bit better high end response on my 01' NSX.

Since you seem to know a bit about this based on your ref. to dirt bikes, then you know that whatever you do to the front end you have to do to the back. (intake & exhaust).

Check out the K& N site. I know they make a drop in.

SC430 uses the same engine as the GS430, can you not use the intakes and CAB avaible for the GS??

Injen does make an intake for our SC430.. SRT at this time does not have one (Not enough interest from what I hear) and Weapon R said they were working on one and by now they should have it..

Only one that I have seen with my own eyes is the Injen Intake.. You can get more details at this website:

I looked at the ingen site and saw that GS and SC uses the same intake, so I am assuming that we can use the same intake from GS??

I hope that they wont come out with a SC specific intake and charge more for it.

Doesn't Injen typically make a pretty good intake?

Any idea on the cost of the intake in the photo ? It looks very nice and well made.

What would be a compatible high end exhaust system ?

Default injen intake system

i'm in contact with the R&D dept of injen. i live in so. calif - fairly close to their shop in pomona.

their current system is really for the GS and it has NOT been fitted for the SC430 nor dynoed. . .

I may have them use mine for a 'model' and hopefully they will have an intake system for us in the near future.

Will post any new info.

could you ask injen to make a CAB as wells, other than shielding the heat from the engine, it seriously reduce the loudness of the intake, and I know when you have the top down, you would still want to hear the music

digital_wu,

Do me a favour and ask Sasha (LexusRules) if Leo @ Weapon R completed the Weapon R intake for the SC430 as of yet.. I dropped him a few emails but no reply.. You might have better luck!

Thanks buddy!
