Same code my wife had...when we checked it at Autoparts store

i would buy new cap and reset the light (via battery) to see if it comes back on again...the gas can get up into the vent opening......

or spend way too much money at the shop, doing what you could have done most likely at home, and in a few hundred miles have it come back on if the gas gets back in there.

I bought the new cap today and will stick it on later. Are there any directions as to how to properly disconnect the battery? I don't want to shock the hell outta myself...

Man I love this site!! I just got the car back from the shop on Wednesday of this week, and my wife and I were going over the finer points of driving the SC (she is taking it to work while her car is in the shop) We take it out, and bring it home and while she is going through the gears the Check Engine lite comes on.

I tightened the gas cap, and reset the car by undoing the neagitve terminal...lo and behold, no Check Engine lite.

I wonder if resetting the ECU through the procedure posted earlier would clear that alarm also. That way you don't have to disconnect power and lose all your settings.

I believe the light will reset itself, given a day or so of driving, without disconnecting the battery....of course....that will do the job immediately.

If get a chance, stop by one of the chain autoparts store and see if they'll scan the car for you to see if it stored any trouble codes.

Default Similar problem on RX 300

I had a similar problem on my wife's Rx 300, and my garage man said the issue could be one of several sensors and the only way to find which one is to start replacing them one at a time until the light went out. I didn't do anything and the light went out on my next long trip.

Kenaroo, that tube comes loose when you have a torn engine mount. The engine moves too much and the pipe pulls off. It's time to check the mounts now I think.

Looks like I may need to change the motor mounts.
