I found out that these sensors are color coded as to which wheel they go on (note the little painted area in photo). So, be sure to put them in the right location, or you might get the idea you have a flat in the wrong place. Maybe everyone knew this, but one of mine was busted and the dealer wanted to know what color it was so he could send me the right one.

I've never seen where the system tells you which wheel is flat.
(The Corvettes do -- I was bummed when I found out that the indicator is just a light on the dash.)

Validate this for me, but my guess is that the color is for having 2 sets of indicators. There is a Main/Sub switch inside the glove box for a second set of wheels.

Actually, I just got an Infiniti FX45 to go with my SC430 and the FX also has a low pressure indicator, however you can then go into the onscreen trip computer and select tire pressure and it lists the PSI for each tire on the vehicle. Pretty cool, also the nav has the birds eye point of view.

The service tech at the dealership said that the one that was broken had to be replaced with the same color sensor, and that he had the four different colors in stock. I don't know about the winter tire issue or about the indicator on dash, I just know that he said I have to replace it with one the same color. Perhaps this is to make it easier to program since there is a corresponding receiver that communicates with each color. I'm just doing what they tell me to do. At $140 each, I'm glad I don't have to buy any more of them.

Default color coded pressure sensors

Since these are wireless devices, the different colors are probably different channels to prevent the sensors from interfering with each other.

Geez, $140 each? I hope that included installation. At one time recently, Sewell had the entire set of four sensors for just over $300.
