LED DRL Mod

LED DRL Mod
I installed the 9005 DRL modules and 68SMT Led bulbs ordered from V-Leds.
According to V-leds, I am the first one to try their DRL kits on the SC430.
They work beautifully, so I finally can get rid of the yellowish drl.
Highbeam is still working, so I do not know why others said the highbeam would lose its function.
They also work exactly the same in my 09 GS350.
The output of these 68SMT LED bulbs is DEFINITELY NOT as good as that of your stock 9005 filament bulbs at night.
However, underperforming highbeam doesn't mean the function is lost. It only means it performs less well than required.
If you often use your highbeam as a source of light to see the road at night, then you should not do this mod.
For DRL purpose, these LEDs look brighter than stock DRL (9005 bulbs at 50% power) and I am still able to do a highbeam flash when needed.
The way I see it, I just converted my highbeam to a much brighter second parking light.

I have done both of my SC's with LED's and I have gotten a little flicker on both.
Oddly enough, you can only tell when they are shining against your garage wall or when you pull up to a store and see the reflection.
My wife/buddies that have seen me in their rearview in their cars tell me they see no flicker. When you take pictures of the car, you see no flicker.
Doesn't bother me...I'm used to it. Seems like it goes away the longer you drive the car/longer the life of the bulb IDK...sure beats the ugly yellow DRL's any day...and sure beats a HID kit and the installation of one IMO. 30 minutes to do this mod tops...$40-$60 depending on the bulbs. I bought the 68SMT LED 9005's as well. Bought the fogs too just need to install.

is350 LED DRL
Nice ride!! your car looks ver nice! I wanted to do the same thing on my is350 but the 68-smd I bought did not work well. They problem was that with the engine running (of course) the DRL light on right? well with the led lights already installed they would start to flash a little which I think they should not be doing this, correct? I love the color but I do not like the way they flash.. it seems that the battery is dying or something. With the 9005 (OEM) it does not do that but again I do not like the yellowish color of the bulb. What is your recommendation about this since you are a experienced man?

One solution is to use a relay harness: it'll get power directly from the battery and you can tap the signal wires to your fuse box (spliced into the driver side fuse box "inj"). I have had mine hooked up for over a year and it has worked like a charm.
