Default Windshield replacement - importance of Lexus OEM glass?

My windshield is cracked and my local mechanic said I'd need to get it replaced. He gave me a quote of $395. Not sure what brand he'd use.

I called Lexus and they gave me an estimate of $1317.79 for the windshield+$35 for molding. That's excluding labor, the service dept was closed so I didn't get to talk to them.

This a pretty huge disparity in price, so I was wondering if there was any real reason to get the Lexus OEM glass instead of whatever brand the mechanic will use?
