Default SC430 Dash Left and Right Vent Removal Help!!!

I need to replace the Left and Right Dash Vent Registers. I replaced the center vents, but I just cannot figure out how the far left and right vents come out.

The louvers were all broken.

If you know something about this subject, please help!

...they basically come out the same way, as the middle vents do. I used a small pry tool to pop them out & when you put them back in,they snap into place. Just be careful in removing them, because they are like a jigsaw puzzle. They have alot of small pieces & are put together in a cross grid manner....hope this helps some

Thanks but This is a center vent and it attaches to the long woodgrain piece. I am installing the far left and far right vents.

I will look at them again but they look like they have screws or bolts that go through the arms that protrude from the main vent.

I will snap a pic to make sure we are talking about the same item.

I do know on the passenger side there is a removable 'end cap' that meets the door jamb under the white window trim. Mine was loose this weekend and Ive been trying to locate a frustrating rattle for half a year so I removed it to see what was inside. I ended up adding some foam but it wasn't my culprit. I could see the rear side of the vent. Might be helpful for you. Just a thought.

...sorry about that....I may be thinking about the middle vents .I'll take a look at them today & see if i can get a better idea. Those holes may be for guide pins to keep them in place, instead of an actual screw.

I sure hope you guys are correct! I have the drivers side ready to go in and I just purchased the passenger side on eBay. The two center vents were replaced a couple of months ago!

We need that one person who changed out their vents!
I looked in the maintenance manual but do not recall the procedure...I will look again.

I don't know if this will help from the IS group, but it may have something for you. (I don't own an IS.)

The SC vents are installed differently and more difficult to remove.

I pulled the mirror/security/headlight washer switch and could see the bottom of the vent. I placed an inspection mirror inside and looked at the leg with the center hole and sure enough, there is a screw. I do believe I can do this without removing the dash, but I will need to access the area from under the dash and that is NO FUN!!!

Well, if the previous owner would have cleaned the vents, he and his wife would have never broken them. They were full of dirt and tar from cigarettes.

Well, at least once you've replacement them, you'll be rid of one more source of cigarette effects.

Hey everyone, did anyone find a way to remove the driver side air vent? Any help is appreciated before I tear into it. Hope to hear from someone much wiser than myself soon.

Retro told me he just used the interior removal tools and pulled. That’s what I did also. Only the very front piece came off/out. The part with the adjustments. The rest stayed in the dash and I just installed the unbroken new to me face.

thanks for the reply. I tried and didn't want to force it and break anything. Maybe you can show me a photo of where to put the interior tool shims to allow only the front portion to be removed as you did. I want to hard mount my phone charger to give more stability on the louvers.
