I installed the Tundra antenna base on my SC 430. Now I need to purchase an antenna.
Is there any difference in an 8 inch vs. a 4 or 6 inch. Just want the best reception I can get. Also can I get even better reception by reconnecting my windshield antenna to my new Pioneer AVH 5700.

It would seem that your reception would improve with the additional antenna. If you do it, please let me know how you did it.

With antennas, size does matter but it also depends on the design. If you can find out which antenna has higher gain, chose the higher gained antenna. It is doubtful that the windshield antenna will provide better performance but you can give it a try.
You can run both antennas through a reverse splitter but will lose a couple of dB in the process. Then again, you may make it worse by combining the signals.
Tromly, I haven't looked recently but they used to market antenna amplifiers. If they do still market the amplifiers, you might give one of those a shot. (We have to use them on our TV antenna in the attic to be able to receive a number of the stations properly.)

Antenna mast to screw into the rear new Tundra socket. When they get here I'll see what works best.
So Shawn you only have your windshield antenna connected ?

Ps. I can still hear the motor whirring once in a while trying to adjust antenna height to pull better reception, as if the telescoping antenna was still in place. Additionally, I might add that I still get TRAF and TEXT info to the headunit. Not sure if updating to the Tunda unit, disables these features. Can anyone check, please?

The antenna type should not affect head unit functionality. But I have not done anything to prove that.
