Is this the sprint booster that you are talking about?

Before you spend money on a sprint booster, understand it will not actually make the car faster. Someone wrote up a great whitepaper on it (post #3): https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...ntrollers.html

I imagine the SC is heavier than the LS because of all the retractable hardtop hardware/bracing, so maybe this contributes to the difference? Also, depending on what year SC you have, the pre-facelift (5 speed) ones have a lower differential gear ratio than the 6 speed SCs. (3.23 vs 3.76 if my memory is correct). I'm not familiar with the ratios on LS years.

If you want a faster SC, exhaust is where you should start. There are also places that can tune our ECU now, though they're not the easiest to track down since it's still pretty rare because of how locked down Toyota ECUs are. Before the crisis, I was supposed to have mine tuned by TTFS in May, I still plan on doing so when everything goes back to normal.

I've done quite a bit to my SC. The only noticeable power gains were from headers/exhaust & an extrude honed intake manifold. Switching to lighter, aftermarket wheels with really good tires also produced a noticeable (but not huge) difference in acceleration, as less power was being robbed from the drivetrain. (our stock wheels are stupidly heavy, I think over 35lbs for the wheel itself? I dropped around 15lbs per wheel not including the tires)

How loud does the car become with i/h/e mods? Does it sound like a muscle car or is it more subdued like one would expect from a Lexus?

Ditto! Switched to 17" Enkei, lightweight RPF1's and noticed a big difference in quickness/responsiveness, and an even greater improvement in ride. I gave up some handling/looks with the taller sidewall. It's all about priorities.

The Ls430 weighs more than the SC.
So there’s a few reasons why it may feel peppier... the throttle controller in the sc may be more numbed from the factory than the Ls, The rear gear ratio may be longer or it’s all in your head.

I’m leaning towards all in your head...

2004 sc430 1/4 mile time is 14.5
2004 ls430 1/4 mile time is 15.8

... not sure why I’m replying to an old *** thread but regardless, the sc is most definitely quicker than the LS
