Do y'all think this is a good deal?
2005 with 25k for $29k?
I'll be dropping my next door off tonight to pick it up. After going back and forward they only took $1,500 off so shes paying $27,500.
I'm just wondering if you guys think its a fair price, because she can still cancel the sale. Thanks

For what it's worth as a comparison, I just picked up an '06 last month with 19k miles for $27,900. I had decided to go for '06 or newer because of the updated transmission and the newer tail lights.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
This women is really really picky. She has been looking for 2 years now. It has to be red and with super low miles. She was actually looking at a red 2011 IS250c with 40k for $32k. She complained that the interior felt cheap and there wasn't a lot of wooden trim. The sales person said they would let her have it for $29k. She told him she would think about it and left.
So they got home and told me what happen. I did a quick search and told her this SC430 (the one linked above) is cheaper, lower miles, and has a really nice interior when compared to the entry level IS C.
So they both left and went to look at it. Sign the papers (with 3 days cancellation). KBB has a dealer asking price of $31k. I bet that was the number she was using as a comparison when negotiation. Before her and her husband left I told them I won't pay more than $24k-$25k for it. Her husband doesn't mind the price because hes just sick of going and looking at cars with her for the past 2 years.
For whats its worth they told me the car is spotless and needs nothing done. It was owned by an old lady that kept it in the garage for most of its life. I can't find another red SC430 with under 25k within a 500 miles radius of our area

Price is just about right for purchasing from a dealer.
IT LOOKS VERY NICE.
KBB.Com puts it at $29.8k in very good condition with that mileage.
Carfax history and drivers.lexus.com shows being serviced by dealer with no unusual problems other than routine maintenance.
The only negative thing I see is in January there was a claim via service claim for "body repairs". Looking at drivers.exus.com service history it could just be they replaced window tint.

Late last summer I purchased my 07 with 50K on it for $26,000. At the time it was the best I could do. I wanted a 06 or newer for the 6 spees and it had to be something different from the black, white or silver. Mine is Tigereye Micha. I personally think the 6 speed is worth holding out for.

The only other one with low miles in our area would be a 2009 with 20k. But they are asking $42.5k. And sadly it isn't red.

I was told the 2006-2010 model actually has less hp?
Shes just going to daily it to work (20 miles a day 5x a week). Is there a lot of befits with the 06+ 6 speed?

With the car at nine plus years old and with 25K mile on her I would imagine the timing belt, water pump, thermostat and serpentine belt are original. The recommendation for replacing these items is mileage (90k) or time. My car is an 02 with less mileage and I recently had these items replace. The timing belt had a few cracks with no real major issues with the other items. You might want to check the maintenance history as use some negotiation leverage if the items are original.

Can the SC430 be worked on by a Toyota dealer?
I was told the the SC430 used a similar V8 as our 2001 Sequoia. Same block but different head?

Standardized methods of measuring HP was changed in 2008, but the engine and output are still the same.
300-hp was the original measurement, but the new standards changed it to 288-hp. No changes to the engine were made. The new transmission did not affect power output. Torque also changed a bit from 325 ft-lbs to 317 ft-lbs.
There is better fuel economy rated at 21mpg combined for the 6-speed, whereas the 5-speed provided 20mpg combined.
Nothing spectacular, but it still helps in the long term.

One thing to have her check is number of keys. I would insist on 2 master keys.
