I have a 2007 and the windshield is cracked. Before I make a big deal to AAA about going factory glass (only has 25K miles), I'd like all the amo I can use as an argument. I suspect the two vertical wires running parallel to each other in the center are for something that an after market windshield won't have.

the ML head unit uses two antennas (for multi-path signal correction?). One at the rear of the car, the other in the windshield.

so, if you have the stock headunit, yes, you want the correct windshield.

The correct windshield does not mean it has to be Lexus. I have a PGW (used to be PPG) windshield put in by Safelite. It has the two wires and all functions of the radio and GPS work fine.
