Sc430 door stabilizer

By design the contact point is actually just the door U channel and the latch, plus the friction of the door panel with the frame via rubber gasketing.
This is in essence adding a shim that increases the contact area, force is distributed on a wider surface and therefore acts as a solid contact.

Lead Lap
I have a set of these but yet to install. Have offered them up to the existing ones and it looks like a straight swap. There are many Lexus/Toyota parts that are interchangeable even though they are not specifically listed as fitting our Sc430's.
I plan to install them in a couple of weeks time and will post pics then.

Just the other day I was changing the oil and had the front end on jack stands and there is quite a bit of interference at the door due to chassis flex.
According to articles it uses the door as a stiffening implement. Once the door closes the mechanism slides a spring-loaded metal section behind the lock to draw it tight against this teflon-like plastic part on the door itself. This pushes the door slightly against its hinges further stiffening up the chassis.
This seems to be the best price after shipping is added :

Did the installation today. About 5 min per door. You won't need the bolts that are included; you can use the oem bolts. I can't really tell the difference driving but I do notice I need to close the door a bit harder. I'll post pictures as soon as I can get them off my phone.

Why is it expensive, I do not see the cost of the hardware being high?
