Mark Levinson sound system
Does anyone know a good place to get speakers and parts for a Mark Levinson sound system that would be more reasonable price-wise than a Lexus dealer?

Depending on the damage many here have found speaker repair, instead of replacement more than reasonable. There is a long history of issues with the door woofer, ans the sub woofer too. Some have opted to replace them with other brands but run into issues with correct Ohm ratings, others, like mine were covered under extended warranties. If you search in the forum, or google the net for speaker repair you find info on that option. I got my old speaker back after it was replaced and had it repaired and now have it as a spare if the other fails. The repair was $35, with them doing the work, less if you do it yourself...either way it more reasonable than the $250 Lexus wanted along with another $200 in labor to take it out of the car.
There are several well documented threads some with photos on how to get the speakers out of the door panels.
Oh, BTW welcome to the forum...the search and Advanced Search tool are very valuable when looking for info in the forum.

I am not familiar with them, but there are two areas of concern when looking for replacements... The ohm rating and the physical depth of the speaker. The door woofers are 8 ohm speakers which is unusual for car systems. Using the wrong ohm rating can potentially lead to amplifier issues. The second issue, depth of the speaker, is in regards to the window clearing it. Many replacements are too deep, blocking the window.

Here's the url to the thread where I, with the help of Bob, Habeas and others from this forum dealt with the 6x9 door speaker issue, including costs to repair.

After shopping long and hard, and having a few extended conversations with a high-end stereo guy here in Sacramento, CA I decided against replacing the speakers with another brand. Bob is right...your amp will overheat with speakers that aren't 8 ohm. I decided to have them repaired and I'm very happy with the results.

I to had the same problem when I purchased my SC this past May. I took mine to the BB to have a remote start put in and they removed the speakers and I ordered the speaker rubber replacement kit, They did the work and put them back in and they sound great. I wouldn't do the work yourself unless you are able to get them perfectly air tight. The kit cost $24.95 for the 2 6x9 front speakers and included free shipping. The only other cost was labor and that was a simple speaker install. Good luck.

I replaced the door woofers with these and have been very happy. They fit and are 8 ohm speakers. http://www.simplyspeakers.com/replac...er-w-6028.html
