Default Tining Belt Replacement

What is a reasonable price for replacement of the belt.
Do not need water pump or tensioners.
Thanks

Depending on where you go for the work, it is $400-600.

I have a 2004 sc430 with 55000 miles on it and yesterday call local lexus for a price and was told 1400.00. I called the toyota dealer next door and it was 600.00 if water pump is good or 800.00 if they replace it. guess who gets the job

I recommend you do a search for timing belt and you will find quite a few threads.

Sewell has a package for timing belt replacement parts. Go check them out. This package will detail which components are recommended for replacement. Try fleabay too. I have checked it out and there's a package they sell, all OEM and they have a list of parts.

Good luck.

When (if) you go to the Sewell website be sure to register and sign in with your CL username/password to see discounted parts prices.

I also recommend you do a search - there are lots of posts here on pricing, parts sources, DIY etc. I found them really helpful when I changed the belts on my '02.

Just curious how you've determined you don't need water pump, idlers, tensioners, etc. Are the covers already off the front of the engine?

Just trying to get basic cost. No time to do it myself and local dealer is giving 20% off all service up to $200 tomorrow. Since it is an 03 I thought I would get it done. Biggest issue is my 03 Sequoia also needs a new belt with tensioners, idlers and water pump. Two at a time is pricy.

My sister in law's Sequoia timing belt was quoted @ $500. Not bad. The SC timing belt, parts and labor by a Toyota-Lexus mechanic (outside dealer) would cost $700~$800.

$1,400 easy with a Lexus dealer.

Good news.
Dealer replaced timing and drive belts for $635 total.
Did not need water pump or other parts.

Hmmm not sure you really need to do the timing Belt now.
