Power Antenna to Fixed Stubby Conversion

Completely forgot you already took pics and posted this here. I see what your saying about having to cut off that big bulky medal piece. If you see the last pic of this reply. You will see redliner8 had a pic of the mast and it shows the top being bald (no rubber piece or metal around it)
I posted these same pictures here. Perhaps it can spark some interest from the previous members of this thread:

Picture of the whole assembly with s2000 conversion installed on a 2000 Celica
Actual antenna assembly from 2000 Celica. Please notice where I broke off the original antenna. I will have to drill it out before I am able to screw in the s2000 antenna.
As you can see in the pic below, I broke off the old antenna screw end inside.. Any ideas how to get it out??
Next to the original SC430. The Silver nut is the same size. However the angle might not allow the part to screw the s2000 antenna reach high enough over the original sleeve.
Here is a pic with celica sleeve off.
The cylinder might have to be cut short
Looking at this picture. It does not look like the SC has the rubber piece at the top
This may need to be removed.

Good news and bad news
Good news is that the huge rubber/metal piece simply slides off when your move the (black) tape around which makes it look like the SC
Bad news: I tried to drill out the old screw and messed up the treading. ;-(

Oopppsss...but good news at least on the antenna. We are on to something here...
Get another antenna!
Then go for it.

Truly, the telescoping antenna is the only item in our cars that says it is dated.
If you have the LED tails, our SC is comparable to the current edition cars.
And if we have LED DRL strips upfront, it will be awesome-er!

Here's a small mod I created with my antenna... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ml#post8162229. See my other thread (Media Intergration) to see how i wired the Aux input (iSimple IS77 FM modulator). A the moment b'c the iSimple completely blocks the signal coming from the rear, my stub antenna is just for looks. I've used an adapter cable to make the front windshield antenna my primary antenna and the signal is clear and perfect. No static.

Someone please create a write up on how to solve this. I would love to get rid of my telescoping antenna as it is starting to go out and I can't stand the look it gives. Help!

1CleanSC, I don't think anyone has found a sure fire way to input a new antenna into the OEM spot. Lots of us have tried personal modifications. Mine fit nicely but isn't functional (see link above). There are others that have tried other methods but require a little more wrench time. Problem with the stubby antennas are that they are not truly functional (ie. no true wire connection), including most of those that come from Ebay. Some member chose to put a stubby homemade billet antenna and then add an aftermarket "hidden" antenna. If you want a true functional stubby antenna, you will have to go with another manufacturer. Some have used a Mercedes SLK, Toyota Celica, or another auto manufacturer's antenna but then you'd have to do some modification. Here are some threads that might be helpful... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...c-antenna.html & https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ns-please.html

Shawn,
I honesty don't care about functionality. I only use my spotify account, pandora or stuff from iTunes. I honestly don't remember the last time I used the radio on my AppRadio 3

1CleanSC, well as I was saying nothing is a simple plug and play. If you bought one of the cheap ebay stubby ones you would have to find a way to mount it as it comes with a bolt at the base. There is just nothing for that bolt to connect to, so it's a real headache. It's really a difficult mod. If you like my antenna, it was really simple to do since you don't really care about functionality. No need to open the trunk linings or remove the motor with my mod either. You just have to unscrew the chrome nut, extend the antenna to the full position (check the other threads for the directions) and pull it out. Trim the stubby antenna's base. Then tap the stubby antenna into the chrome nut and screw the unit back on. Easy peasy. Good luck with whatever path you take.
