Default Windshield Replacement

I will be having my windshield replaced. Does the new windshield need to be a Lexus replacement or will any standard replacement suffice. I would like to keep all Lexus replacement parts, but do not know if I need to be concerned with a windshield replacement. Is there anything special about a Lexus windshield besides the Lexus stamp on the corner.
Thanks for any help.

If you do a search on "windshield replacement" you'll get a number of worthwhile threads to read. At least one is very current:

I had mine replaced last winter. My insurance would only cover the cost of aftermarket glass, so I would have had to cover the rest out of pocket. It would have been another $600.

I didn't think it would be worth it, so I did the aftermarket glass. It's not quite the same. The Lexus glass has some sort of water repellent coating on it that aftermarket glass doesn't have. And aftermarket glass seems to chip more easily, but that could be my bad luck. I got a rock chip maybe a month after the new glass was put in. I still don't think it would have been worth $600 more, but it's definitely not the same.

Thank you both for the information. I would like to keep the OEM replacement windshield if possible. After reviewing both your comments and reviewing the thread you suggested it seems like the prices could be all over the place. I could be wrong, but the Lexus glass does seem a better quality.

I will try to find someone who will use OEM glass and hopefully work it out with my insurance company.

This is my first time using a forum of any kind. I appreciate the feedback and it is nice knowing I have a place to go for answers.

Thank's for the welcome and thank you again for the help.

I was told there is no Lexus windshield replacement, as Lexus does not make their own windshield.

Our 02 had an excellent replacement done by a company that works with the dealership. This is a 2 person job and takes 2 hours. Very Complicated.
