Mark Levinson questions- inquiry of double-din installation
Today I took my 2003 sc to a well respected car audio shop in Louisville to inquire about switching out my stock Mark Levinson unit with a double-din, multi-purpose unit that would allow everything from bluetooth to satellite radio and much more.
I did not have an appointment, so I did not get all the information that I was looking for and was wondering if some of you guys could help answer some of my questions.
1) Is the navigation and the stereo connected in a way that one cannot function without the other?
- If that is the case, I will need to buy a unit with built-in navigation
and replace the current navigation screen.
2) If the Mark Levinson receiver is removed, will all of the speakers continue to work?
-I was warned that if an after-market unit is installed I could
possibly lose my "lows" or maybe even all of the speakers.
3) Have any of you been able to install an aftermarket sub woofer in the trunk?
- If i lose my stock sub, then i would need to replace it and do not
want to sacrifice my backseat.
I've only seen two examples of such an installation in our cars: one being the wide body project that we all envy and the other being in this youtube clip:

Any insight would be appreciated. I have been looking to do this mod for a while and am eager to get it done if the price is right.

1- Yes
2 - No - but yes if you buy an amp and X-overs.
3- Yes - even in the stock location
I don't know offhand which thread the specfics are in, but you can do a search and find it. I would for you but I need to do something now. Good luck.
