Default Intermittent driver's dome light failure -- any suggestions?

Intermittently the driver's dome light does not function, not with the door open, not with the manual switch, na-da, nothing. But later, it works fine, both with the door open and the manual switch. Of course, it worked fine when it was at the dealer for warranty service. They replaced the bulb as a precaution but problem is the same.

Any ideas what to look for or suggest for this problem? Hard because it is intermittent.

Thanks.

The connection is very poor as the little metal bit is very weak. I would wrap something conductive around the terminal so as too pack it out to get a firmer connection. Tin foil, some wire etc.

With mine I think I just bent it really far forward just so it gripped the bulb more.

I just converted my dome lights to LED'S . Really easy to do. Johnny if you take both lens out then unscrew two phillips head screws the entire map light assemble comes out. Just unplug the connector . Then you can take the entire assemble out and work on the assemble at a bench. Easy to remove the bulbs and clean the contacts and apply more pressure on the contact. Or you could install the LED"s .

Johnnycake,

If all else fails, there's gotta be at least one dumb schmuck in your area who'd be willing to help you with any electrical problems with your car.

Well, there is one guy that fits your description, but he spends all his time commuting in traffic, so I don't think he'd be available.

In case anyone searches and finds this thread in the future, aquanuke was correct. More grip needed.
