Trunk Hard to Open - is it the Struts?
My newly acquired 2004 PB opens a crack when you pop the trunk but needs a hard push up to open the trunk. Since I haven't had it new I am not sure if after you pop the trunk it is supposed to glide open easially - meaning my struts need to be replaced? It is Lexus Certified with new warranty so if this is a problem anyone know if this will be covered?
Also, I pull the trunk down by the little handle under the trunk lid, however to shut it entirely I have to push down hard on the top of the trunk or spoiler. Should I avoid pushing down on the spoiler, i.e., might the spoiler weaken if I push down on it?
Thanks for any advise,
Rustito

Trunk Opening
With new OEM struts on my trunk, it pops open about an inch or so and when I lift up on the lid edge, it smoothly goes right up with out applying any more pressure.
I may have a new problem though. Yesterday, it would not respond to either of my remotes and one has a new battery. I opened it using the inside button on the dash a couple of times and then when I tried the remote again. It worked, even a couple of times with out failure. I noticed the remote red light blinked when it failed to open, I guess that means the remote is working.
So, I am somewhat concerned, maybe it is the position I am holding my remote. Will do more tests.

Try to get your Lexus dealer to replace them under warranty. It's the struts for sure. There are aftermarket ones available that you can install and are more reasonably priced than OEM ones. I ordered some, but haven't installed them yet.
Talk to the dealer first though.
