Yes/No. My previous SC was a salvage title due to front end damage and 250k, the guy was about to part it out. It needed tons of TLC but I guess it was a good first SC, never had any issues with it besides the typical alternator and a broken antenna.

The day I bought it with a truck full of parts next to it.

The day I sold it

yes on heavy downpour it leaked a tiny bit, didn't drip or anything, just the roof lining got moist, still have to fix that, gonna have to redo it, take the windshield out and seal that entire area better, gonna stuff it with tons of fiberglass mat, then put a new windshield in.

I had been looking around for a Sc300/400 in my area but everyone I talked to that had a running sc never could make time for me to come look at one. I got to messing around one day and found a car being parted out and had a title. The lady told me she had sold the back seat out of it and the brake controller.

The body on the car is crazy clean, I was able to find one tiny little ding behind the passenger door. So I snagged it cheap, had a piston sticking through the block. Right now its sitting snug in my garage while I try to decide on if I wanna throw the 1uzfe back in it....or swap it with a 2jz or Lsx......oh the decisions.

Must say though after working on my 4 240sx's I've owned this one seems much easier to work on, besides the starter that is.

Default Yard Kept

My 300 was parked under a tree on a farm for 4 years before I bought it. That does not do a car right! The only thing that worked was the engine (after replacing alternator) and fortunately it was a 5 speed but everything else was screwd up. For example, the stereo only worked if I had the break pedal depressed and turn signal was clicked to the left. Its become my hobby to rehab the car but I do it through going through the pick a part places.

I picked mine up one step away from the crusher for a few hundred bucks, included were a couple of extra engines, as well as other parts the previous owner had gathered over the past few years. Seats are trashed, engine was rough and wiring was a DIY nightmare, cut/spliced like mad. But the body was in excellent condition other than some paint fade. Clear title with no known accidents, seemed like a good place to start for me. out came the stock drivetrain and now it sits waiting for the weekends so I can work on it day by day. So far the bay has been cleaned and had a quick spray of paint for protection and body work has slowly began to start while I decide what power plant to go with . I work 6 days a week and have three kids and a wife so this is gonna be a long slow process but Ive got big plans

I cant help but anthropomorphize these cars, and everytime I see a saved car I imagine some orphan given to a foster home and sent to law school who now rolls around charging $200 an hour so they can afford to do a few cases a year for free just to stick it to the big guys.

Every single one of these cars saved warms my heart.

So lets take a look at my newly acquired SC300. She is a craigslist special. She has a blown headgasket... yet starts up like a charm. No smoke... but you can feel a loss of power. Power steering leak, crushed fenders (one is gold), spare tire is on the car, ripped driver seat, and radio is inop are just a few things i noticed. when i saw her... I just hated thhe thought of the 19 year old owner taking it to a junkyard.

My plans are:

Shine auto bodykit
lowered suspension
GTE swap
Borg Warner S400SX (sitting in my closet)
New seats
wheels... nothing flashy
and most of all turn this hoe into a housewife.

I like having a blank canvas.

Previous owner said he got the car from some drug dealer and that damage on the hood was from a bullet (i cant confirm that)

Both fenders were crushed and i hate the pre 97+ front bumpers

Body otherwise seems straight.
