I've had my SC up for sale for two weeks now, and no serious action.
I got a couple of calls from the sign in the window, but they thought
the car was going for less.
Craigslist has brought nothing.
I thought it would bring 7K with no trouble. I'm always looking and the nice ones seem to be
7K and up, I mean nice with low miles.
Hate to pay Autotrader $70, but I wonder if the buyers are more serious on there.

I was able to sell my SC400 a few months ago here in CL, after like 3-4 months. I don't believe cars go that fast to be honest. Just make sure you prep your car well, clean it, detail it, give people a thorough background or history of the car(that's what usually sells them) and make sure everything is functional, and maintenance is up to date so you can get your asking price. And, be firm and reasonable with your asking price, go with KBB value. Good luck, you'll find a new owner don't worry.

Its taken me about a year to sell all my past SC's (dont ask why I keep buying into them lol). And I've had my current one up for sale for about 2 months. Had a few serious bites but nothing ended up working out in the end..

It's a fact , not unless you bought a car or whatever mods you installed next to nothing, you will never get back whatever you spent on it. They are the worst kind of investments not unless they become collectibles.
Only those who really know the SC would probably pay good for them, so the forum will be a good choice to advertise. Common people who are not familiar with them , first thing they will check in buying a car is how old the car is and how does it look . Being an old car , it is really tough selling them since for $7k , there are a lot of newer cars. Heck you can even buy a lot new BMW or Benz if one has that money. Only those really keen on having an SC will grab it before newer cars .
But a lot of those who wants an SC now are young and who are students so they cannot pay high too which is understandable. That is the reason I believe it is getting tough to sell an SC at a good price now a days. And for those who just want to let go theirs...they sell it so cheap that you see them a dime a dozen now.

thought I knew
I thought I was really on top of knowing the value. I check around all the time.
I always look at the ones for sale, and I go in person if they're close. And I've had five SC's.
I still say that a really nice one with low miles (under 100K) should go for close to 7K.
Just recently on Craiglist there was one that sold for 7K in one day. The first person took it.
But yeah, people hear the model year and think damn that's an old car. The irony is that that
"old car" will probably be better and more reliable than many cars that are much newer.

It's an 18 year old car... $7,000 is a lot to invest in a car that old. You need to wait for the right buyer to come along who knows what they're getting. The average consumer can care less about an SC. The only people who will buy it are the only people who already appreciate it. I don't know what your car consists of, stock, modded, color, etc... but at that price range everything matters. I wouldn't buy another SC without black interior for example. At that price range people are very picky with what they want.
