I converted from the pre-97 front to the 97+ bumper simply because its more aggressive in appearance, and has a greater airflow. After looking at the front of the pre-97's for long enough, I realized that without an aftermarket lip, it looks like a fish, similar to the early LT Camaro's.

Having a stock '92 for over 20 years was great but then seeing all of the body kit choices that mimic a lot of the characteristics of the 97+ style front end made it an easy upgrade choice.
Acquiring an OEM 97+ bumper cover is expensive if ever found (not even sure they are available anymore). The body kits out there are not all that great a fit (except for the Shine) and takes a skilled shop to apply most of them.
The fog lights, also, were a bit pricey but for me are the crowning feature versus the cornering lights of the original bumper cover. Also went with a version that had the front slot in the middle and purposely eliminated the badge.

The car overall seems to look a LOT higher off the ground simply because it doesn't have the aggressive front bumper, side skirts, or the slight 'lip' on the rear bumper.
