Hey guys I'm working on my 1j swap in to my 93 sc300. I got my motor from JDM Miami the other day and noticed that the oil pan is super dented from shipping. i was wording if i could pound it out of just buy a new one?
Its not bad enough to hit the oil pick up line but its still pretty bad

Mines worse. Didn't do anything about it. It runs fine. Oil is overrated anyway. As long as your oil pickup is flat and not kinked.

I was joking about the oil part. But mines been dented for 3 years already.

I had an oil pan (not on my SC) that was pretty beat up a few years back. I hammered out the dents, had a few that were almost a crease in the metal so I added a little heat with a butane/propane torch and no issues. But as INTIMAZY stated, it wont hurt much and provided the oil pick up is fine, you just have an ugly oil pan.

bang out that dent.

use a heat gun, apply lots of heat, use a heavy weighted hammer, place a block of wood under pan, and hit it out.

you run the risk of oil starvation with a dent like that. if you drive your car hard, and take turns sharp and fast, all the oil will be run dry from that spot since there are no baffles.

Agreed I dirt dropped my old 240 lost oil pressure banged out the dents good as new. There is an optimal distance of spacing the pickup from the pan however!
