1992 SC300 2JZ-GTE Aristo Swap & Suspension Overhaul
To turn my beloved 92 Lexus SC300 into a quick car that is fun to drive, we are doing a Toyota 2JZ-GTE Supra / Twin Turbo engine swap.
I purchased this 1992 Lexus SC300 from the original owner back in 2005 with 135,000 miles. Over many years, this car have provided me with reliable transportation when I first started college. While building this car with limited resources, I have learned a lot about cars and the automotive industry and given me the priceless joys of taking part in the exciting subculture of modifying Japanese cars.
A decade later with approximately 220,000 miles, this beloved car of mine is starting to show its age. Despite her clean exterior, the naturally aspirated 2JZ-GTE is anemic and under-powered, and the worn and unresponsive suspension makes it a chore to drive.
Rather than shoving an old dirty engine and transmission with a hacked up wiring harness into a car with worn suspension, here is our build plan to modernize the car and make it fun and exciting to drive again:
JDM Engine Pros, La Habra
- Acquire used Toyota 2JZ-GTE Twin Turbo Aristo engine/transmission
Zerek Fabrication, Anaheim
- Remove Wheels to Reseal and Straighten (Wheel Repair Specialists Santa Ana)
- Install coilovers (BC Racing)
- Install new rack and pinion (Autozone)
- Install new tie-rod ends (Autozone)
- Install Godspeed sway bars and OEM Supra sway bar mounts
- Remove engine and transmission for engine bay paint
Kaizen Motorsports, La Habra
- Perform Leak Down Test, Inspect Engine
- Build Brand new engine harness for OEM Aristo ECU
Jesse Rios Paint, La Puente
- Prep Engine Bay Paint
Renown Garage, Stanton
- Tear-down and Reseal Engine.
- Remove head & send out for machine work
- Refresh engine (head gasket, valve cover, cam, crank and rear main seals, new waterpump, timing belt, spark plugs, wires)
- Swap good 2JZGE parts (engine mount brackets (req'd), alternator(req'd), and compressor pump(req'd), oil pan, idler, tensior, radiator hose)
- New conversion parts (power steering pump reservoir, OEM Supra engine and transmission mounts, radiator shroud, fan, etc)
- Send out injectors for cleaning (RC Engineering)
- AC system (new seals, rebuild 2jz-ge compressor, replace hose)
Zerek Fabrication, Anaheim
- Install/Modify Front Mount Intercooler (CX Racing or Ebay)
- Fabricate down-pipe and modify Tanabe exhaust
- Remove differential and subframe
- Install lower control arm bushings
- Install differential and subframe bushings
Without the help of friends, family, and automotive industry colleagues helping me with my passion, this car wouldn't be how it is currently, and I wouldn't be working in the car industry doing what I love.
If anyone has parts to contribute to this build, please email me directly at ThePerfectExposure@gmail.com

Very nice! I'm glad to see another Cali member going this route. I love the choice of the VVT-i 2JZ-GTE. An AEM engineer recently told me those are catching on more for tuning as per their product development. You will be very happy with how the car turns out. Keep us posted and good luck!
