It has ben proven over and over again for the reliability of the W58. Matt has a link on here for the step by step procedure and also the part lists. Its something I plan on doing in the furure.

We have plenty of daily beaten cars with W58's... including a 91 MK3 Supra with a W58 factory... with over 3 years of 1uz swapped goodness... daily beat the hell out of and its fine. Like really really beaten on....

we have 2 96 obd2 motors, one is in an 86 pickup... as far as codes we have not gone that far in the wiring, but the car starts with the manual.. But if someone donates a car we will lol... but i have no idea what codes it will throw.

do you have a contact number. I wanted to do a swap with the w58 manual trans. I liuve in orlando wich is not far from tampa. Let me know

I know the exact codes it will throw. All will be transmission related and for the 4 different shift solenoids.

I have two theories,the easiest would be to pull the solenoids from the auto tranny and leave them wired and bundle them somewhere. The car will just think it is forever in park is my best guess.

Theory two is cut everything out and sodder in resistors for every solenoid.

No idea if I'm right our not and being in NY I dont want to buy everything do the swap and then have a car I cant get inspected and therefore cant drive on the road
