My car ran awesome for the 300 mile jaunt yesterday - but it still surges at really light throttle. Need to play with the TPS. I did hit overboost during a couple freeway pulls, so I dropped the boost. I also hit the speed limiter a couple times. My speedo is inaccurate and I didn't look at my NAV system when I hit the speed limiter, but I'm pretty sure its lower on the GTE than the GE because I hit 155 on the GE.

I can definitely feel a difference in how strong it pulls now that I got it on the open road. Damn... It never stops pulling! Feels great. If I haven't thanked everyone for their input on this mod - THANKS.

keep fiddling with it till it revs clean, mine was very touchy also.

yeah the speed limit on the USDM ecu's are like 150 mph something and on the JDM ecu's its 110-115 mph or something like that. hope the surge goes away, you can always try running a little less base timing it could be due to that as well, I am around 7 now last time I checked but I live a mile up in the air so your experience may vary also gas quality comes into play. glad mines not the only one that is pulling good. do you know what psi you hit the overboost.

Wasn't looking at the gauge, but I had been running ~15PSI. I wonder if the overboost kicks in after it overboosts for a few seconds, not just spikes. I backed my MBC off by 1/2 turn and never hit overboost again, but haven't looked at the gauge because I didn't care

My speedo is off by about 10% and it shut down at 110MPH, so yeah, around 120 I guess.

I may need to get an aftermarket tach too, because I keep banging the rev limiter in first as the tach can't seem to keep up with how fast the engine winds up.

lol, I know what you mean about the tach but you get used to the timing on the limiter and its a pretty soft cut.
I want to get a 6 spd ecu eventually for the increased rev limiter.

heres a teaser, guess whats going in that empty space?
don't mind the ps fluid, I need to change out alot of old hoses on this mighty 22r.
at least is doesn't leak oil anymore

soooo i think either my timing light or crank pulley mark is lying to me. I decided to time it my sound and feel instead of the light, and it runs so much better, no bucking, no dead spot at 4k, smooth idle.

am I doing the light at the wrong spot? i grab the signal wire from the first cylinder above the coil.

if you have vvti coils, you should have one of the coilpacks sitting on #6, with a wire lead running to cylinder #1.
you put the timing light clamp onto the actual coil wire going from the coilpack on #6 to cylinder #1.

If for some reason you installed your coils backwards and you have a vvti coil sitting on #1, you would use the coil lead going to #6 to do the timing off of, but you would have to have wired up the ignitor differently from what is in my thread.

basically your coils should sit on cylinders 2 4 and 6, and have plug wires running from 2 to 5, from 4 to 3 and from 6 to 1.

Also with vvti coils you must use a regular timing light.
If you have one of those "dial back" timing lights with the digital readout that you can adjust, it will not give you the correct reading it will give you double or half the real timing, i forget which way it is cause both are wrong.

The dial back timing light doesn't like wasted spark.

Ok do you have another map sensor to try?

Or run new wires from the map sensor itself to the ecu , maybe you have some broken wires orthe connection is loose at the ecu.

i dont have another :/

I'll check the continuity of the wire I ran, as well as the connection at the ecu.

If those are fine I am guessing its the MAP sensor is bad?
