The switch it self is a different size and will not work with the IS wheel, so lets hope we don't have to use that switch. All the functions are the same on both switches, so I don't think internally there is a difference, but I could be wrong.

Hey that looks good^^^^ i painted the tiny trim piece on the bottom flat black, and the 'L' was worn down to just black from the previous owner, which i didn't mind. Love the solution of covering up the shift buttons. My solution was buying a celica GT-S wheel :P

Thanks^^ I should mention how I did this so people don't get confused, I took the buttons out and glued them down with epoxy then filled the hole with some body filler and then hit it with the various grits of sandpaper just like if you were going to paint something for your car then wrapped the pieces in carbon fiber 3m dinoc to match the wood trim in my car that has been wrapped as well.

hahaha...WTF. I did the same thing in real carbon fiber though. Hahaha...such a PITA to do those little pieces in carbon. Sanding and buffing them is a BIOTC*

I was going to do real carbon at one point but it was a bit to much work imo lol
Now I am trying to figure out what to do with the cruise switch, What have others done in the past? I would like to use the IS300 switch so now that a wiring map has been posted I will try to get this sorted out.

**Edit** Here is the diag as was posted in my other thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-switches.html

Made a write up for the factory IS3 cruise control. From this thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...in-my-sc3.html

So I finally got time to mess around with the IS300 factory cruise control, I think I figured out how to get the cruise function to work, but not 100% sure that all the functions are there, like the accelerate function, but still need to test it out on the freeway. I did confirm the Cruise function it self to work however! Here is how I did it.

Uninstall your factory airbag and wheel, take mandatory pictures next to the new wheel to show it off.

Once you confirm your new steering wheel is way more awesome than your stocker, get your soldering iron, solder and tools and get to work on the cruise control.

This is the stock IS3 Cruise/Shift button harness:
-Use a small flat head screwdriver, or knife and carefully pop the retaining clip up so we can de-pin the harness plug.

Remove all pins from the plug except for the ground for the horn(large blue wire on the far right)
-I used a small cotter pin to de-pin the plug as I could not find my dental picks. Make sure you insert it straight in, on top of the pin so it will lift up the small plastic tab holding the pin in the plug. Then pull the wires out of the plug.

Once you have all the pins out, you will want to find the white/black wire coming out of the cruise control, and you can see it goes directly over to the left side shift buttons. We will cut this wire so we can route it directly to the plug.

I borrowed some pins and wires from the OEM phone harness(you will need both of them)

Size: 152.9 KB

Use one of the borrowed pin&wire and solder it to the white/black wire on the IS3 harness, and plug it into the plug in the location below, I also plugged in the red/black wire in the location below as well. *Note - I shrink wrapped my horn ground wire to protect it, as it had been slightly burned previously.

Size: 73.3 KB

Next we need to pull back the loom from the IS3 cruise control harness to locate where the solid black wire merges with the red/back wire.

Size: 146.1 KB

Be careful not to break the wires off the back of the cruise control module like I did, if you do, just carefully solder it back on.

Size: 80.6 KB

Now we will need to find the junction where the solid black wire connects with the red/black wire. Carefully snip the black wire at the junction. *Ignore the green wire in this picture, it is from the factory phone harness and will be soldered to the black wire and connected to the main plug.

Like so:

Size: 87.7 KB

Should look like this when it is all done.
Name: 20120219_130727.jpg
Views: 3041
Size: 40.3 KB
Name: 20120219_124302.jpg
Views: 3008
Size: 67.9 KB
Name: 20120219_125440.jpg
Views: 3021
Size: 72.4 KB

Re-install everything, hook up the air bag, and enjoy your new steering wheel!
Name: 20120214_144936.jpg
Views: 6841
Size: 128.2 KB

So all in all, there are only a few steps.
-Cut white/black wire going from cruise to the shift buttons, solder on a pin and plug it in.
-Remove the solid Black wire from the Red/black wire, solder a new pin to the solid back wire and plug it in.
-Plug in red/back wire, with the solid black wire removed from it.
-Make sure your cruise control works!

I do apologize for the mostly ****ty write-up as I did this all in a span of 2 weeks and did not take detailed pictures of everything along the way. Again, I did confirm the cruise itself to work perfectly, but I need to test if all the other functions work. I might have to break out the multi-meter again and test the IS3 cruise vs the stock cruise module and what voltages they put out when the functions are used. I noticed that when you turn it on for example, voltage will drop to .02, and when you push it up, it will fall to 8ish volts, and when you push it down, maybe 5volts, but I cant remember the exact numbers, so I might have write down the actual values.

If anyone has anything to add to this, or needs more clarification please let me know, I am happy to help.

Thanks,
Rick

Thanks! This was my first write up like this, I felt it was a bit cluttered and unorganized, but hopefully should help anyone installing a IS3 steering wheel in their SC and want to retain the cruise control. I will update this once if I figure anything else out.

Thanks again!
Rick

has anyone made a list of the other lexus/toyota steering wheels that will fit our SCs?

the IS300 and GS ones are too damn expensive! i can find the bare steering wheels for like 100-200$, but the airbags are like 100-200$ alone!
