The Future of my 93 SC300.....1uzfe swap.
So I havent been able to find any information on this topic probably because its never been done before.....
What I would like to do is make my 93 sc300 5spd powered by a vvti 1uvfe v8 engine. I would be able to settle with non vvti if I had to.
Given that I live in California I cannot got NA-T, and It's hard as hell to find an engine thats not JDM to do the tt engine swap. I know that it could sell my 300, buy a 400 and do the w58 conversion, but I got a great deal on my 300 and its in exellent condition. The 1uz engines are also a dime a dozen.
I know little about mechanics but I do know that my w58 tranny isn't going to bolt to the 1uz engine so I would need to get the adapater plate.
Would I need a new clutch and flywheel?
Custom drive shaft?
Would I use the stock ECU from the 1uz?
Anything else?
I have about $3000 to work with right now but what would be the estimated overall price to do a conversion like this?
Please any information on this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

1uzfe manual parts - go here. www.Quantum-Auto.com
Get the adapter plate
Get the steel or aluminum flywheel
Get whatever clutch you want off that website
Use your SC300 Manual Driveshaft
Use stock ECU for the SC400
Anything else?
Know that the adapter plate uses the 1uzfe automatic bellhousing. You will need a Howe 82870 Throwout bearing, the spacer on Quantum's site, and the clutch line kit on there as well.
PM me if you need anything.

I've thought that too, but no one on here seems to have considered it let alone tired it. I'm assuming it cant be done, and I'm gonna guess its because you wouldnt be able to attach a non-vvti-i manual tranny to a vvt-i? No idea really though..

Yes it can be done. Reason why no one has done it because up until the beginning of this year, the parts to convert were hard to come by. Now they are available.
People need to understand that you can now attach a 5sp to the 1uz... regardless if its VVTi or not.
Yes it can be done, the worse you will have to do is deal with a CEL, unless you fool the computer with some resistors.
I have done a handful of conversions and they all work... regardless if its a 92 or 99. All 1uz blocks are NEARLY identical (I cant think of the difference on the blocks actually)... So as long as you use the 1uz auto bellhousing > then the adapter for the tranny you want > then the trans you want... it will work.

I am not very experienced with this stuff, but I figure I could probably put in the engine and tranny in myself, by refering to the pics on your w58 conversion post. The thing I know nothing about is what to do with the wiring.
I would love to get this done, but realistically I can't do it myself. Are there any people or shops that could help with this, specifically in northern cali?
Thanks

So I saw a used 1uz vvti engine for sale at around 1800 including shipping. I know that the conversion kit for sale at uza70.com is 1300. So thats looking to be around 3100 for parts.
