Suspension? (93' SC400) Squeeks over dips and tracks...
Hi,
I have a problem that the car repair shop cannot fix.
When I (93' SC400) go over train tracks or particularly when I go over speed bumps and parking lots depressions, the car squeeks like hell. At first I though it was a broken spring, because it sounds like a "eeeerrrt-eeeeee". I have had them inspect the suspension and they cannot find anything (broken or worn). Also, it seems to happen in all four wheel wells at times. Any ideas??
It also sounds somewhat like the sound of rubber rubbing again rubber... lube??
It is a very scary and embarrasing sound. Please offer your advise.
Thanks,
Kirko

Hey Kirko:
Join the club man.... what you have is worn out front end sway bar bushings. The good news is you can fix this by replacing the front sway bar. The symptom is either creaks or squeaking when you go over a dip or speed bump. The bad news is the bushing is not a repair item. You must replace the whole sway bar as it were.
If you get a clunk or clang when you go over a speed bump then that is a symptom of worn lower control arms. Again, a replacement item.
You may want to try some lythium grease on the joint areas of the sway bars. I have shot mine up with some Boeshield (sp?) and this has minimized the noise to some extent. So one day I will replace them. Let us know what the damage is on this...

There's a start!!! Thanks.
It seemed to come on almost all at once, is this normal??
... about 10,000 miles after I bought it. Could the dealer have lubed the hell out of it??
No idea what the cost would be huh??
Respectfully,
Kirk
P.S. Is this the part??

My experience with this is that it only does it to me when the car's cold physically, like at night, and only when I hit a speed bump or something large. Does this mean it still needs replacing? The rest of the time it's fine.

MadMax, you make a very valid point. If I do hear my front end squeak, it is in the early morning or late at night. In particular, in the warm summer months, I do not remember this squeak at all. It seems to have developed as the colder weather has arrived. Glad you pointed this out. Also, in the cold weather, I get a tiny squeak from the sunroof rubber moulding and the sunroof itself. This is not a big issue though.

Noise when hit bumps
Ever since i have my ride lowered. The rear suspension doesn't seem to be working properly. It always make this loud bump noise everytime i hit a moderate bump. Sounded like there are no bump stop in the strut(but there are). Any ideas what the problem is anyone??? Keep in mind, only the rear suspension has this problem, the front is fine. (i had replaced spring and strut for my suspension)

I have the same squeal noise in my SC400. Is this a warranty item. I complain about it last time and they said they don't find anything worn in the suspension and noise and vibration is only warranty for 1 year instead of the 4 year bumper to bumper warranty. Bummer.
