I have the chance to buy a 2000 lexus sc300 very clean only problem is that its not manual which i know they stopped at 97 iv been researching for a few hours now and haven't been able to find a solid answer. Anyone have any ideas on the best way to do the swap?

What kind of manual transmission are you planning to install or swap into your SC300 ? You have quite a few options...W58 , R154 , V160 or some other car's manual tranny.

I was thinking w58 since thats what came in the manuals unless you think a different one would be a better option

The R154 and especially the V160 are a lot better than the W58 but they are pricier. It all boils down to what kind of power you are ultimately looking at for your car. That should help you make your decision cause those 3 transmissions supports different horsepower level.

for a mostly stock car just swap a clean w58 in, cheap, effective, and will last at stock horsepower levels.
the vvti motors in those cars can only make so much power even when turbo'd so you should be OK, but if looking to do a swap or build for big power then definately r154 at the least or the 6 speed v160 (best but most expensive).
you will have to do a couple things to keep the check engine light off on a 2000 if thats important to you, mainly tying up all the sensors from the old auto trans somewhere underneath the car and leave the plugged in so ecu thinks auto trans is still there.
