12 disc cd changer died on my '96 SC300- Please Help, Thank You!
Model No: 86270-24052 Lexus 12 disc cd-changer just stopped working. Dealer wants something like $600 for a reman. Does anyone have a good resource for the exact same model by chance? It says on the tag here that Matsu****a manufactured this changer. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated!! Thank You!!

as of yet, there aren't any companies that offer any conversion kits to use the oem controls for an aftermarket changer. your best bet is to find someone to recondition it. try -

i don't know how much they charge but if you decided to call them up, could you inform us of your findings? (price, etc). good luck!

I didn't know Matsu*****a was a dirty word
The changer was also sold as Panasonic and a Technics changer for Toyota and the general aftermarket in the early '90s. Only Lexus has used this long
Before you throw it out try the internal reset button:
1. With the unit installed in the trunk, Open the lid.
2. Look for a small ressed button along the interior wall of the changer. Using a ball point pin press the button.
3. Close the lid. If your magazine was inside it should now rise to the top and the unit will begin functioning again.
Hopefully this will solve your problem.

Hello and Thank You one and ALL!!
I called Komtec Electronics and spoke with Keiko. She referred me to Ken at Panasonic Service Co (714-373-7500). He mentioned it would be $220 to recondition the unit + parts (however the parts are usually included in the $220 he said). I'm especially thankful for Mr. Wigggles post. It made me give a second thought to pressing that reset button. The first time around it was only pressed down for a couple of seconds, off and on. This time around I held the button in for 30 seconds and what do you know!! I can now change from disc 1 to my subsequent discs just fine. What happened I imagine is when the car was shipped from Texas to Las Vegas on the back of the semi it was bounced around a little. (just bought the SC online) So when I popped my cds into the magazine, loaded it into the changer, it played disc 1 just fine but then disc 1 didn't want to go back into the magazine when I changed to disc 2,3 etc....just came up with an error msg in the display. I pressed the reset button a couple of times, didn't respond and now wouldn't play even one cd! That's when I came to make my post here. Thank you for your help everyone. I hope my experience can help others- press the reset button for quite a few seconds after you ship a car and you too can hopefully enjoy the benefits of a 12 disc cd changer and not just a single cd. Thank YOU!! I hope this solution will be long-lasting......

LV11, my cd changer was like that at first. It would act up sometime... then all the time! My changer lasted about 3-5 months with the error message. I hopw yours last much much longer.
*Thanks for the info about the refurbishment fee(Hellaboy thanks for the #).
