Retrofiting a newer Spoiler? Pics Included
This is my current 92 20170125_141252.jpg with the stock spoiler. and I'm looking into updating to the 97+ spoiler (as well as the front and rear bumpers but that's fairly plug and play), would the spoiler require completely different mounting points? or would it just be easier to buy a 97+ Trunk lid with the spoiler on it?

The mounting points on a 97-00 winged trunk are probably different on the sides compared to a 92-96 winged trunk. Additionally a 92-96 trunk has a few more pre-drilled holes from the factory that will need to be plug welded and smoothed out and repainted when switching to a 97-00 spoiler.
It may be easier to begin with a 97-00 winged trunk or even a wingless trunk lid if you can find the exact locations and measurements to drill into on the surface (or a pre-made template that comes with the wing).
Also, the OEM rubber adhesive gaskets that go onto the underside of the wing surfaces that touch the trunk lid are different between 92-96 and 97-00 wings.

Craig is right. The 92-96 has more holes that will not be covered up when you switch to a 97+ spoiler. But a trunk complete. It's the easiest way. Even if you have to have it repainted it is cheaper than the body work to fill the holes. Good luck! I have a 99 trunk with spoiler that I would sell to you if interested. Where are you located?

^^ I very much agree with Jim. A complete 97-00 trunk lid, even one that needs a repaint to match, will be better than doing more work. Also don't forget that you can sell your 92-96 winged trunk too as some people also want those. Case in point: I sought out and bought a 92-96 style winged trunk myself just a few months ago and sold my wingless trunk to another member who preferred that style. It's always the easiest solution to get the entire style trunk lid that you desire.

Mounting dimensions 97+
I now have a 97+ spoiler I want to mount on a trunk that has never had a wing before. Would someone with a 97 wing be willing to measure from the bottom lip of the trunk to the rear mounting surface of the wing and post those measurements? I just want to make sure I get it mounted correctly.

RxRodger,
I'm about to do the same thing. Did you get the measurements you needed? Can you pass them on to me? Any hints/suggestions on the mounting of the 97 spoiler?
Thanks!
