Genuine Soarers in the USA
#22
Could you get a Soarer with a manual transmission and 1JZ-GTE combo??? Seems like every Soarer I see on the internet has an automatic, cloth interior, and either the 1JZ-GTE or 1UZ-FE
BTW your white Soarer is beautiful. I have the USDM equivalent, 1992 SC300, pearl white on light tan leather, 5 speed, 2JZ-GE

Yhea, the stick-shifts are just rare. Leather was reserved for the v8 cars in Japan for the most part. There are a couple JZZ30s running around with leather, but not many. The 2JZ-GE engine was also sold in japan as well, but they were not very common either. I actually wanted an automatic, every car I have ever had has been a stick-shift, I'm tired of driving one in traffic, lol.

SoarerTara, that Soarer is beautiful and very clean! It was well taken care of and not modified from the look of it. And a non-sunroof model too!
R154 5-speed Soarers are indeed rare and were low production just like our W58 5-speed SC300's. Indeed a very good deal for you if you wanted an automatic for a change. The four speed in that car is very well supported and is nearly identical to the one found in the USDM MKIV Supra TT Automatic.
Aron9000, driving a manual in traffic has never bothered me either even out here. Then again I've always stuck to factory or organic face clutches that are closer to stock pedal effort.

That thing's in really good shape. Except for the center vent, of course. Even the JDMs couldn't get that right.
I've never seen the center rear carpet before. Was that ever an option here? With how difficult the left rear seat is to climb into, that makes a lot of sense for keeping things clean.

Oh I'm used to it, I haven't had an automatic since 2003, and I've had every kind of clutch from full race in a v8 240z to a stock 330xi. Most of the time these days I'm driving a GS-R, but they are all the same except for pedal effort. It just takes a lot more focus and mental effort driving a stick in traffic around here because it's faster then most. Las Vegas stop and go involves runs up to 25-30 and then back to a stop again. Means not only are you constantly working the clutch but having to shift too. Inevitably I get cranky and start driving way too aggressive trying to just get where I am going. So yhea I figured if I can just relax and ride the brake pedal instead perhaps I won't turn into a total ***** during the commute... Lol
