Default lost the master key

Greetings. My neighbor's daughter was in town last weekend and drove her 92 SC400. She then proceeded to misplace the main key before leaving town. Now my neighbor is in a panic because she has torn the house apart and no luck. She has the valet key, but wants to replace the master. Lexus here said no dice that the car is too old.

Does she have any options at all since the main key is missing? Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Ron

Try another Lexus dealership. It can be done. I work at Lexus of Westminster and did mine. They key itself cost a lot and is a pain in the *** to program.

I work for Lexus. She will have to go into the dealership and provide proof of ownership. Then they can order a key based on the vin number. Takes 24-48 hours typically. Pre-1998 cars are easy. Just don't lose all your master keys on a 98+ or you'll need a new computer :-(

Find a good lock smith that knows how to cut lexus keys and they should be able to make you a new master key based off of the valet key or they can convert her valet key to work like a master key.

If she wants the original keyless entry to work, then there are 2 options.

1. buy 2 new keys plus the computer chip from the dealer (part number is in the link below)

2. buy an aftermarket system
