Default '92 to '97 versus '98 to '00 OEM strut/insulator/bump stops

Dudes,

A search for this proved worthless. I am replacing my '95 front struts, insulators, and bump stops, with the OEM '98 to '00 struts/insulators, and bump stops, which are much cheaper than the '92 to '98 version. Are the '95 top mounts compatible with the newer struts? Will '98 to '00 insulators and bump stops work with the '95 top mounts? What exactly did Toyota/Lexus do by releasing a different type of strut/insulator/bump stop/top mount for the '98 to '00 model year? Softer ride? Is everything interchangeable is the question.

Thanks in advance...
