Value of 1992 SC300 with blown head gasket?
The head gasket on my 1992 SC300 with 134,4xx miles has blown, but the issues don't stop there.
The interior is very, very rough - wherever you look, the plastic is broken, the leather is ripped, and things are shaking and vibrating.
Upshifts are much harsher than they should be.
The rear suspension makes thud noises when going over bumps, and creaks a lot when I leave in the morning.
The windows take forever to roll down, the side mirrors don't move electronically anymore, the center console display is mostly black, and the antenna doesn't go up and down anymore...the antenna motor just makes an annoying noise whenever it's time for the antenna to move.
We've been offered $300 for it as a trade-in. What would you do? Accept the $300, sell it yourself, scrap it? The car still moves, so we could make it to a scrap yard.

Part it out. You'll get $1500+ for all the stuff you sell, but it might take a month or two to get rid of it all. Also you have to take into account the physical footprint of it- if you don't have a spare garage space or driveway, it's not really an option.

No one in my family has enough mechanical expertise to even take apart a car properly, and, yeah, we don't really have the space.

private party would be like 600-1000 bucks for a car in that sort of condition with a blown motor, so 300 trade-in is not that far off. If it was in better condition it would definitely be worth selling private party, but in its current condition it depends if you want to take the time and hassle instead of trading it in which is really easy.
If there is no major body damage then list it for sale as OBO and see what you get. if its lower than 300 then trade it in, I wouldn't scrap it unless there is rear quarter panel damage.
most anyone will give you $500 for a complete car generally speaking and people like these shells more than others. this also depends on your area.
someone out there is probably looking for a clean shell, and will just gut the interior, swap motor, throw some coilovers on and have a great track car, and that really solves all the problems with your car except the window.
again I would not scrap it if possible. a blown headgasket is not crazy hard to fix either.

You could probably part the interior out for close to $300 depending on the condition and color. I know trunks go for close to $100 right?
Just saw you said it's rough, well I'm certain you could probably part some stuff. And then maybe send it to the junkyard if nobody wants it after?

Check out the WTB section and see how many people are looking for things you have. You don't need much mechanical experience to take stuff apart. Just look up the part that's needed. See how to get to it without screwing anything else up and take apart. If you were closer i'd take all of your hardware for bumpers, side skirts, high beams, and i'd look into a few odds and ends that I could use and offer you a good amount. The market is there for a car that's being parted out. Especially an sc that's going to be scrapped for $300.
