First of all my searches to find my exact answer have been futile.

I have a 97 SC400. I do NOT have an original master key, just two aftermarket valet looking keys. I want my keyless entry therefore I need to know exactly what key I need to be looking for. I've read some old threads that kind of contradicted themselves.

The question: Which master key did the 97 SC400 come with? The key with 3 buttons built in it like the 98 SC3 I used to have or the key with just one button on the side, like my 92 SC4 used to have? Or was the keyless remote seperate from the key?

Anybody? I know keys have been covered a bunch but I cannot find anything specific for a 97. Even google shows both key versions when you search it.

I was pm'd about this the other day so let me update it. The 96/97 model year for SC's used a separate remote and therefore it was not a part of the actual key. I went to a dealer and had a new master key made which cost me around $40 if I remember correctly. I then bought a remote off eBay and programmed it myself using instructions I found here on CL.

I also just did this and now have 3 masters and 2 key fobs. It was stressful only having one broken key lol.
