New Key....Flip Style
EDIT: JUST SO YOU KNOW:First off my key was falling apart so then i started searching for a new key shell.
Well a while back i purchased one of these keys off of ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-02...item35a8194c42
and just recently got it cut not to long ago. All you do is switch your internals over to the other key and then get the blade cut. no reprogramming because your transponder was already programmed.
After i got it cut i tried it out and it wouldnt start the car. So upon searching on here i found a thread were the GS's were already doing this. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...lip-style.html
There was one that purchased the key that i did and had the same problems as i am. and theres another version that seemed to have better outcome. Mostly no problems at all. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-00...Q5fAccessories
The problem is that the transponder, in the key, isnt close enough to the ignition module to send the signal to let it know to start. is there anyway i can boost my signal or should i try a new battery or what are my options.
Some had the key shortened before they cut it and it worked and some have remote starts and it doesnt matter anymore about the key because of the module on the ignition. i know i could have a remote start installed or try the other key but i really just wanted to check for some answers first.

Is it possible to grab one of the key fobs from ebay say with the L on it, and just transport the metal key from the original 93 key into that one? In this case my key has no battery anymore so it doesn't give off any sort of signal its just the key. I'm looking to update it.
OP, I really like the keys showed in the links. I'm glad you got it resolved as well.

huh
im not sure about your particular key. ^^^^
but actually my problem still exist. Im trying to resolve the issue without remote start or buying a new key. Im thinking maybe i have a weak battery. so i was asking anyone that had any experiences with the transponder in the newer model keys. should it be that sensitive to not work at the newer distance or is my battery dying.
i mean if i have to ill get remote start and never use it,(i like the fact it was just this simple key and no extra things hanging from it.) or try the other key but i wanted to check first before i went and spent more money. sorry if the first post is a little hard to understand it posted before i wnated to so i had to try and edit it real quick before people read it. LOL
