Remote trunk open stopped working
I replaced one hydrolic trunk strut and I have now noticed that I can no longer pop the trunk using the lever to the lower left of the steering wheel. I'm not sure if it is related to my replacing the strut or not. I don't see how it could be. Can anybody give me any info on what I may have done or what may have happened on it's own. And how I can fix it. Or what I should check, etc. Thanks. I'd hate to loose that handy feature.

If it happened right after replacing a lift support, it sure seems like that might have caused it. Is the new lift support so strong, that it is putting additional pressure on the latch, and the remote actuator won't overcome the additional load?
Have someone try the remote button while you stand right by the latch- can you hear it trying to release? If you press down slightly on the trunk lid, to relieve some pressure, does it then release?
If so, you may be able to lubricate, file, grind or sand the latch assembly so the actuator mechanism is able to release it.
It certainly is a handy feature- ever since 9/11, I can't enter my firm's parking structure until the bottom is inspected with mirrors, and my trunk is inspected, so I use that feature daily.
