rpm needles stuck at 0
my rpm needle just stop working. all the other needles work fine, but my rpm stays at 0. sometimes it works and others it doesnt. I serched and found out it could be my speed sensor, but my question is, if its is my s.s, why is my mph still working all the time?

- slight hijack, my needles stopped working. I tried two clusters and its the same thing. My AEM installer attached a ground wire to the the furthest small screw on the fuel gauge side and the tach works and all the needles light up when this is done on both clusters. None of the other needles are moving, only lighting up. Anyone know if there is a main ground for the whole cluster?
There was dash swap done so im sure something just isnt hooked up as it did work before.
TIA

My brothers SC has that issue hit the cluster lol. Have the cluster rebuilt and new bulbs installed. Worth the cost though. Your coil could be going out cause it runs off of one of the banks coils can't remeber which side it was on ,but it has three wires or more going to it.

A backlight upgrade isn't going to help your tach motor. Each cluster will have it's own problem. Some will be contacts, some will be the motor itself, some will be the signal sender wire from the ignition....... Each should be handled on an individual basis. In your case it is either the motor or the contacts in the cluster where the screws go into the board.

I guess what I was getting at was to inquire to you OLT some standard cleaning and/or diagnosis that you can perform should the cluster be in your hands. I assume there are some easy/basic checks while others may require additional cost in parts/labor to fix?

It's likely the tach motor, but can be a portion of the MOBO. When Shane was here (that white Stroker SC we posted pics of) he had a similar issue and it was his MOBO, but just as many people have issues with the tach motor itself. Like I say it is an individual thing. If you get a tach motor you could swap it, or I could. No matter what you'll know the problem when done.
