Default Lug pattern conversion or adapters? 5x120 to 5x114

So basically guys, i searched through the forum and found one thread about the conversion but it didnt exactly answer my safetly concerns. I found some rims that im going to be picking up for my 97 SC4. Their 5x120 and ofcourse i want to convert them to fit the SC. As far as safety goes, is this a dangerous thing to do or does it have any type of adverse effects to it? It would be great to receive some info from experienced users who have tried this but any kind of opinions and advice is greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming these adapters are just like spacers with 120 patterned lugs. I would look around here and read up on what people think about spacers. Your going to get different opinions for sure.

There is a website called WheelSpacers.com. They can make custom spacers to your liking in any bolt pattern conversion. They are a little more expensive that most companies but they are very well worth it. Do not use universal slide on spacers. If you buy bolt on spacers make sure they are hub centric and come with their own special type of lug nut to secure the spacer. Once the bolt on spacer is on make sure it is properly torqued to manufacturer specs. Also before installing, test fit to see if the stud on the stock hub is long enough for the thickness of your spacer. The tip of the wheel stud has to be flush with the surface on the spacer once bolted on. Good luck!

I have 120's that were re-drilled and sleeved, haven't had a problem. If you use spacer adapter you are bring the wheel out prob half an inch...

Hmm, i was thinking this would be a better option to go with, how much this the entire redrilling process cost you though?

JSpec3, thanx for the much needed info, this might actually be to my liking since the Axis rims i want to pick up might need spacer type converters to make it flush with the body anyways. Much Appreciated man, thx.

I got mine already like that so i don't know how much it cost, the inserts are actually kind of nice because the are case hardened grade 8 so your aluminum wheel isn't getting messed up by the lug nuts.

I was going to do this with some wheels I had before and it was going to be 75-120 per wheel to get it re-drilled.

I hate to say it.. but depending on how much those wheels are.. you are factoring in a 200-300 for adapters... are the wheels really worth it?

probably some BMW or porsche fitment wheels.

there is nothing wrong with bolt-on spacers as long as they are hubcentric to the hub and hubcentric to the wheel. porsche guys use them on race cars all the time.

redrilling wheels only work on certain type of wheels before structural integrity becomes an issue.

i dont think pushing the wheel out by 0.5" or even 1" is that big of a deal. most cars that run 5x120 wheels have crappy factory offsets as is.

Yeah they do. Have you seen those monster 3" spacers some of them use?

I was wondering the same thing about certain wheels. My friend has some I-Forged Senekas on his BMW 545I and he wants to sell them to me, but, I'm unsure if I could get them to fit on the SC with adaptors. He only wants $1,500 for them and I wish there was a way I could get them to fit on the SC. Do any of you guys know if they'd fit with lug adaptors? They're 19x10's and 19x9's. Thanks!!

wheels diameter and width tells only half the story. need to know the offsets as well.

i can have a set of 17x8 stick out more then a set of 17x10 with the right offsets combination.

think about it this way. its 1500 PLUS about 300+ for adapter made right. worst case scenario you are looking at 2000 for wheels that dont even look that good. i hope he is also giving you the wheels with tires. the price of tires for 19" is exponentially higher then comparing tire priced as the size goes up. 20" tires are cheaper then 19's.

for 2000 you can get a set of really nice wheels in any color, style, width, diameter, or offset you want.
