Problem found. i went over my wiring again, and one wire that I previously had labeled as ECT was a ground. Cluster works fine, but the fuel and water temp needles aren't working. No biggie though.

On a side note: The SC400 tach will not read right with a 1jz swap. I swapped out an SC300 tach, put it into the SC400 cluster, and it works fine.

The entire cluster works off of several circuits. There's no simple power/ground.

OLD *** thread bump, but I'm trying to figure this out right now too. The supra and SC clusters are similar. My guage illumination is out. I tried bypassing rheostat and blew my panel fuse- is the illumination circuit 12v? Or is it lower? If lower, than my rheostat's probably bad, I'll need a new one, no big. But if it is 12v, then that means I have a short somewhere and I want to see if it's in my cluster. So is there any way to test the cluster illumination outside of the car?

As you see, my problem is in interpreting the diagram that OLT has provided, i'll post them up in a bit. The main discrepancies are in harness C. I dont know what the values for the rheostat and trip plugs are and should be, and pin 12 remains a mystery on whether it is a ground or power.

If anyone can chime in, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,
-Freddy
Hey I know this is a 14 year old post but I'm having a similar issue and my c10 has continuity with both ground and positive I would imagine this is a short but I am not confident
