Sc400 Mpg
Guy
Have you guy calculated your gas mileage of your SC400?
Took my 93 SC400 on a 3,550 miles road trip last week. The best I got was 24.9 mpg with average speed of 75 mph. The rest were ~22-23 mpg.
Is this normal for SC400?
What your best mpg?
Let me know SC300 mpg also.

SC400 Mileage
My mileage varies a lot on my SC400.
If I am spinning the wheels at each green light then I get around 13mpg.
If I am driving highway only then I get 23.5mpg.
I average around 18 mpg though which is a mix of bumper to bumper traffic and jack rabbit starts with the occasionaly freeway sprint.

I have been keeping a log of miles, gallons and MPG since owning my SC400. The mileage does vary, and surprisingly by gasoline brand.
Overall, my MPG has never been lower than 19.8 nor higher than 26.7, the average being 24.3 MPG. Seems best mileage comes to me from the use of Amoco Ultra then Mobil Super then Sunoco 94.
I pretty much run Amoco Ultra whenever I can.
At the beginning of each month I dump in one full bottle of Chevron Techron (pure) which is a fuel injector cleaner.
My MPG went up slightly with the addition of the Blitz Nur-Spec mufflers. An average of .4 MPG however that gain could also be attributed to the onset of colder weather (denser air). So Mpg gains due to exhaust systems are not conclusive to me at least.
I will be adding a new Apexi Universal cone air filter and cold air box and MAF soon. It should be interesting to see what the gains in that are. I am going to Gtech the car before and after a few times to get some baselines before adding that filter system.
BTW, from what I have been reading, the APEXi air filter is perhaps the best at actual FILTERING while providing excellent performance in airflow. It is a dry filter using no oils.
When I add the new larger and wider tires and wheels in the spring I am anticipating a loss in MPG.

I kept a log for each of my car too trying to calculate the operating cost of each car each year People told me I am annal about my cars. Glad that I am not alone.
So far I haven't got above 25 mpg on long distance drive. My daily average is about ~19-20 mpg and my tires are 245-50-16
Please post your gas consumtion once you get your new tires on.
And yes on the trip last week I finnaly saw the K&J Jelly you were talking about.

I assume your car is stock, no modification on it. Do you notice any different in performance between gasoline brand? any different in grade (87 oct, 89 oct, 91 oct, 93 oct) our cars has the knock sensor to eliminate engine knock. Lexus recomend premium gasoline, but the engne will compensate for lower grade gasoline...
If you like premium gas. for your SC, I recomend 91 oct. untill the engine can't take that grade anymore (develop knock evrytime you step on the gas) then go to the higher grade. IMO, 93 Oct is a waste of money

Gas Prices
Supreme is $0.02 more than 89 octane? What a deal. Over here in Cali there is usually around a 10 cent differential between each grade and I have yet to even see 93 octane available. I have to use a third party inline product to break my gas down into higher octane fuel.
Right now I get 91 Octane for $1.40/gallon which is so much less than the $2.35 a gallon it was about a year ago.
