I'm am looking at buying a '97 SC400, but I would like to know the difference in the '92-99 models - what changes were made. Also what year did the SC400 get the 290 hp motor?

This is how I think it goes, but if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. 92 to 93 had the orange and red taillights and 250 hp/4 sp. auto. 94 to 96 changed tailights and had 260 hp/4 sp. auto. For 97 they changed the bumpers and added the side skirts and rear valence. For 98 they added the 290 hp/5 sp. auto.

You can get details on the changes straight from the horse's mouth at Lexus certified pre-owned.

They only go back to ' 96 which has the changes made from the '95 model.
