Do NOT buy a compressor from Ebay
Buyers beware! There is a seller on ebay (doubleRS, or something similar) selling rebuilt compressors for SC and LS's. I have had a horrible experience with this guy. The first compressor sounded horrible - bad whine. He replaced that one, and the second one sounded even worse! This was from the moment of install on both. So far I've sunk over $500 into installation costs, coolant, drier units, and labor to have this done TWICE. I told this guy I wanted my money back (supposed to be a 1 year warrantee). He agreed to this but now he won't even return my phone calls. He lives close by me in the Central Florida area. At this point I'm going to have to take him to court over this mess. I could have bought a new compressor for less than I've spent.
Lesson learned. Next question: Where is a good place to buy a new compressor without getting soaked by the dealer?

His feedback is pretty good, which is why I was considering it.

Thanks for the heads up, seriously. I was about to buy one, either from that guy or from Greg at TechChoice Parts. Greg seems like a decent guy. He has his on ebay from time to time but you can buy from him anytime, $295 + $13 shipping. Email him at greg@techchoiceparts.com and tell him your from Club Lexus.
tjj13401, sounds like you need prepaid legal service, im not liscened to sell in fla, maybe someone else here is.

FYI- his eBay user name is double_rs2002, and you can look up his past feedback at:
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...=double_rs2002 or
http://pages.ebay.com/services/forum/feedback.html
Sdastg1 is right- the feedback is mostly positive. Either what happened to tjj (2 bum units in a row) is a fluke, or everyone is leaving feedback as soon as they get the unit, rather than waiting a few weeks or months to see how it works (eBay allows you to leave feedback up to about 90 days past the end of the auction).
Withholding feedback would have been a good idea in this sort of situation since you have maximum leverage with the seller if he knows you still can leave a negative post.

Perry's right about the feedback. I always check that the seller has an extensive history and good feedback before I buy anything on ebay. That's why I was so frustrated with this situation. As I said earlier, he replaced the first compressor without question, and when the second one was worse, he genuinely seemed ready to remedy the situation. But things dragged out too long, and I decided I wanted a refund instead of taking my chances on a third round of this.. that's when things got shaky. I really feel the right thing for him to do is reimburse me for at least SOME of the expenses I incurred through this process, but that's not happening. Maybe my situation is a fluke, but that's some long odds as far as I am concerned. Lesson learned, moving on.

Im new here and hope Im not out of line butting in. I was browsing through on threads about a/c systems on the SC400s, as my car has been diagnoised needing a replacement of the compressor and some kind of expansion part. I to was thinking of purchase online to save money, dealer is way high $$ . I read this thread and checked out this guys feedback on ebay, which to my surprise was quite good. And actually looks like alot of messages left for him was saying unit performing good. I did also notice your other thread left previously about the whinning noise. And wondered if perhaps your problem isnt the compressor, as in the attached message below you say you have the same noise before and after the compressor changes?

My '95 SC400 has started making a whining sound from what I believe is one of the upper pulley systems (water pump? tensioner pulley?) It's much much worse when the A/C is on. I just replaced the A/C compressor and dryer - that had no bearing on it. Same noise before and after. Anyone have a similar issue or insight into what this is and how to fix it? Car has 130,000 miles, orig. water pump, timing belt changed at 90K (why oh why didn't they change the water pump then..) Thanks for the input.

O.K.
Last update on this issue. I have my money back from my ebay adventure, bought a brand new compressor which was installed today. Not a whisper. Quiet as a mouse. So...... yes, it was the rebuilds, yes 2 of them were whining badly from the get go, and yes the guy has great feedback, and no, I wouldn't recommend him, at least not for an SC400 compressor.
