Temperature Gauge Stuck at High
Quick question for all the gurus out there. I replaced my speedometer cluster today on my 1994 SC300 (Not the temp and fuel gauges though, I just transferred thoseto the new speedometer board), and when I put everything back in the dash, the temperature gauge shoots up to high and stays there. The new needles work well, but the temp gauge seems to be stuck. Do you think I put the gauge in backwards (even though I don't think thats possible cause it wouldn't fit, but ti would explain why the temp reads high when the engine is cold)? Have any other ideas as to what I might have done wrong? Please help!! Thanks so much!

So if I put my old speedo cluster back in will the temp gauge return to normal? Also, if I am going to use the new speedo cluster I bought, how do I go about getting a temp (and fuel) gauge that is calibrated to the speedometer? Thanks so much for your help!

the old needle on the old cluster will read correctly. There is noone in america that calibrates these units.
wait that was last year, now there is

OLT - Thanks so much for your help! My fuel gauge appears to be working properly, and when I called a Lexus dealership they said I probably just didn't connect something properly when I put everything back together. Does this sound right to you? They said there shouldn't be any calibration issues if I took a new speedometer cluster (literally just the speedo and tech gauge panel) and attached the old fuel and temp gauges. That, and one of the back-lighting bulbs are out, but I know those things go out like crazy when you start messing with the panel. But perhaps it could be another sign that something isn't connected properly. Anyway, I trust your knowledge and experience just a "tad" more than some random Lexus guy Do you have any advice as to how I should proceed. I really appreciate your help...I was so scared (and kinda still am) that I ruined something!

Just so anyone who has a problem like this knows...I simply removed the gauge cluster again, tightened all the screws (the ones that double as an electrical conduit), and everything is fine! Apparently I was just lazy when I put the cluster back together and that’s why my temperature gauge was not working properly. Thanks for everyone’s input.

Consider yourself the luckiest person on the planet.
I can roundup about 200 screennames to post here telling you how bad needles can be off by swapping them. Glad you got it strait, sheer luck is definately on your side. You probably have the 813 needles, they are right in the middle of the scale of weights they build on.
Loss of calibration by an electrical problem is a whole new conversation though. Happens some times.
