Rear Door / Lift Gate Squeaking
Hi Lexusers -
My 2010 RX350 (~30k miles) recently has been making a squeaking noise when I close my rear lift gate. Sounds like the squeaking is coming from the left side "Rear Door Hatch Support" ..i believe that is what it is called.
Any other owners have this problem? Is this something I can WD-40 and lube? Car is under warranty..
Thanks!!

Back up the truck! WD-40 is NOT a lubricant. It is merely a rust/corrosion preventative for bare metals. It does have some ability to clean stuff, but should NEVER be used as a lubricant, as it gets very gummy & sticky over time. Try a Teflon spray lube, or some plain old oil. BTW- penetrating oil is not a lubricant either.
Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WD-40
If your truck is under warranty, let the dealer fix it. Why mess with it?

WD40 is not suitable for this.
