EPS Maintenance
Couple questions on 3rd gen RX EPS (Electric Power Steering):
1) Is EPS designed to be much more reliable and less maintenance than the conventional hydraulic PS because EPS has no fluid, pump, and belt BUT with less driver steering feel (ie, numb steering) than conventional PS?
2) In a conventional PS system, I have always avoided turning the steering wheel all the way to either end with any force because I heard this can cause damage to the steering system. Is this also true for EPS?

Hi Paul, both questions are good.
1) My 2010 RX450h has had zero problems with the electronic power steering, it works well and relieves the engine from that power loss. In the case of the (h) we have no belts left on the engine to drain power or require periodic adjustment. I've not noticed any loss in road feel.
2) You can turn it lock to lock without issues.
I hope that answers your questions. It works so well, many manufacturers are using it now. My 2014 C7 Corvette has the same type steering and I'm loving it
