2010 RX 350 - USB - Randomize songs
Hi - I bought used 2010 RX 350 recently.
I have a pen drive with lot of songs. The songs are seperated in different folders. For eg: All english songs within one folder. Within that folder, sub folders have been created as per album names.
Now in my honda civic, it i choose "Random", it will read all folders / sub folders and randomly pick any song from any folder.
However in my RX350, it randomizes only in a specific folder. How to randomize such a way it starts choosing files randomly from different folders and sub folders?
I tried to search on this forum and in one of the posts, they have mentioned that RX350 might have trouble reading files within folders?
What is the soluion? What is the alternate option if I cannot use the way I have structured my music files?

I saved the files without folders in alphabetical order. Found some duplicates that way also. I remember some general discussion about this problem with one solution being numbering of the files and the files being played in numerical order.
Another solution is to put the files on an SD card in your phone and use a phone app to play the files over bluetooth in random order or a playlist to play the files in whatever order you want.

Thanks a lot for such quick response !!! This is fast!!!
I will try as you told. A bit surprised that this music system did not have such basic feature.

I thought my Kia should have done a better job as an MP3 player and looked into all this for that car a couple of years ago. I really thought the Lexus would have had it figured out. I guess with satellite and all the phone streaming choices it just isn't a priority.

Which RX do you own? Oops, see it now. I wonder if the 450H is different than the 350? I'll have to look a bit more the next time I'm in our RX.

I have RX 350 2010.
As suggested by someone above, I copied all files to one folder.
It plays randomly but I could not go beyond file count of 255. I was wondering as it why it that number 255 is coinciding with 2 power 8.
Then I saw this link https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...ile-limit.html
So basically it can read only a max 255 files in a folder.
So Now I am back to my original problem. How does it randomize folders as well. This is pretty basic in any mp3 player. I wonder what lexus manfactures were thinking while designing their sound system.

Wow, an 8-bit register. 2^8 = 256 which means a counting increment from 0 to 255. Using a 16-bit register would give you (2^16)-1 = 65535... more than enough songs even for the biggest music collection.
