How to disable seat belt chime on 2011 RX350
As previously noted in another thread, the seat belt chime is very annoying when driving a half a block or so with the seat belt off.
I discovered that while driving slowly with the seat belt off, and the chime blasting away, I press and hold the ODO/TRIP button in until the chiming stops, about 20 seconds. Release button. This was while it was in ODO mode, but not sure if that's necessary.
Now the seat belt light still flashes until I'm buckled up, and that's my reminder. Now I can drive slowly from a friend's house to mine, four houses, unclicked. No traffic. Dead neighborhood. Safely.
This may be illegal in some states. You don't know nuttin'.
Hope this helps those like me that are easily upset by ring-a-ding-dings. : )

Footnote: Chime comes on above 10 MPH.

Anyhow, my friend who's in LAW enforcement, ( yeah i know!) doesn't wear seat belts especially if he knows he's going to be in foot pursuit any second.
His trick, buckle up, THEN sit down. So the seatbelt is directly behind you.
Problem solved. You can drive up to 80 miles without worrying about the chime.

I own a 2011 RX350. Very simple to disable the seat belt chime if you are willing to spend about $24. I bought a Seat Belt Extender from SEAT Belt Extender Pros. It is about 5 inches long and snaps right into the built in buckle. .That completely eliminated all seat belt chimes and is a perfect match to the already installed belt. The sensor is right in the belt and there is no need to get under the seat and cut wires. You can find them at this linki:

Thanks for this. I think everyone here knows the importance of the seatbelt so there is no need to bring it up again. It is really annoying to have it go off, for me particularly, when you remove the seatbelt a few feet from your destination as a passenger and it goes off before the vehicle comes to a complete stop.

OK, this isn't what I'd call a really serious thing 'yet', but if someone was able to disable their (put in by law) seat belt warnings and they didn't have their belt on and was injured because of no belt and due to something they learned on C/L how to do then C/L could possibly have liability (really big sentence).
I sincerely hope all of you understand I haven't had my Grinch costume on for a year now and it needs dusting off so.... I'm gonna can this thread from further discussion. But I'm sure most of you are intelligent enough to understand why.
You can always reach me on PM if you have a serious disagreement. My thinking is it just doesn't need discussing in a public area of C/L. Do it on your own.
