Annoyances

The pursuit of F
Three small annoyances.
1. A small squeak/tapping heard in my left door panel when it's below freezing. I may tackle this at some point.
2. In Canada, we don't have the SOS button. Instead a sunglasses holder. BUT, it's shallow making my glasses a forced fit/close of the slot.
3. "Bluetooth connection successful" message takes some precious real estate off the nav screen and several seconds to disappear. A nuissance when just starting the car and engage reverse wanting to check the backup cam.

As I understand it, you can indeed trigger the SOS button and they will dispatch emergency vehicle to your GPS location (similar to the collision notification system), but I don't think you will be able to have a conversation. So your SOS button test may end up sending an ambulance your way without you being able to call it off as you likely won't be able to talk to the call center. That's just my guess.
PARTICULARLY IN REMOTE OR ENCLOSED AREAS, OR ON ALL CARS, AT ALL TIMES.
i) Services will not work unless your Car is in a place where we have an agreement with an Underlying Wireless Carrier for service in that area; j) Services also will not work unless you are in a place where the Underlying Wireless Carrier we hired for that area has coverage, network capacity, and reception when the service is needed, and technology that is compatible with the Services
The above is from: https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/pub...conditions.pdf
I'm not sure what a Commercial Mobile Wireless Carrier is and if it differs from the Carriers we all use.

From what I understand, if there is a malfunction of the Safety Connect Service the SOS light will be red, if there is no cell service the SOS light will be out. I have not experienced either of these.
If you push the SOS button a person will answer and ask the nature of your emergency. This I have used and spoken with these folks.
Enhanced Roadside Service and Automatic Crash Notification adds the component of GPS location to your SOS call. With automatic crash notification they will call the car first and try to speak to the occupants before dispatching emergency services.
This is true of Destination Assist too. I often say, "Please find a brushless car wash near me" or "Find a Dunkin Donuts near me". They know where I'm located, often better than I do
My annoyance for the day: The rearview camera does not have a wiper and washer.

Sorry... this hit a hot button of mine... My response here is not directed at you personally.
As a person that has frequented this forum for years, and generally tries to jump in and guide folks when I can like many others do around here even on repetitive questions for some of us, IMHO unfortunately, many people that come here don't seem to attempt to first read the (volumonous) documentation Lexus provides, or make use of the Technology Specialists that every Lexus dealership in the US has to personally help their customers. My perception is there are a relatively large number of people that prefer to post and have someone do their homework for them, or just use this forum to gripe about something -- sometimes because they purchase before understanding what they are buying -- then are never heard from again vs. their making a first attempt at using the tools the manufacturer provides to help themselves, or doing a bit of research before they sign on the dotted line. I personally tend to be a research hound, especially before any major purchase, and IMHO find that Lexus and MBZ are a couple of the auto mfgrs that do a pretty good job providing most information in readily available documentation if I take a moment to look for it. Are they perfect? No, but then again, for anything as complex as an automobile, I expect there is always room for improvement even from the best. Forums like this provide me the practical usage info that no manual from mfgrs of most any product could supply, honestly sometimes provide me the "Ah Ha" tidbits I missed in my reading or have never previously considered, so I'm constantly learning... and have established a bunch of friends somewhere in the WWW, even if I only know them by their handles.

I'm relatively new to this side of the CL Forum world but I'm absolutely amazed at the amount of complaining that exists here. It just doesn't exist on other areas of CL that I've been around. Maybe its because those model forums are geared toward a younger demographic where owners are coming to CL to look for information to modify, improve or differentiate their cars. But underneath there is a general satisfaction that they've spent money wisely on a great product. There are so many posts in in here where I'm scratching my head and wondering why the purchase was even made.
I guess it's the difference in models. IS and GS are made to be modified. RX isn't (and shouldn't be) but seems owners here have the belief they are getting a perfect vehicle and forget that it is an entry level SUV.
Just weird coming from one end of the spectrum to another. Much appreciation to the people who still keep a cheery attitude and try to help members here (Anita, RX350inFL, Bert and countless others)

Not going to get into a personal debate about MY perception of this forum compared to others in MY 9 years of being involved with CL. But no I am not Bill Gates, which only goes to my point in that before I spend any of my hard earned dollars, I'm going to spend enough time researching my purchase that I don't spend countless hours online afterwards complaining about the smallest item. If navigation is important to me because I live in a rural area then I would buy a vehicle with the best navigation on the market. Same goes if I wanted to be connected with the road, want an 'A/C on' button, etc.

Also suggest finding the time to read your manual, you'll be amazed at the amount of technology that is in your vehicle.

When they charge $2,700 for a mandatory Navigation system for RX450h, there are some expectations from this unit.

Sorry, I don't relate. I believe it is fair to expect some very basic features, standard on economy-class vehicles, in a Lexus. Not having an AC button is ridiculous. Honestly, there are many times I wonder, what the Toyota Engineers were really thinking. Did they even drive this product for a few days. The bluetooth connected messages that block the rear camera as soon as you pull out should have been the very first thing to notice. I think this may be resolved now with an upgrade.

It's a Lexus, when has any of it ever been cheap? But if there was something better out there for your money, I'm sure you'd be driving it. Enjoy your ride, life's too short to be mad over a missing button or spending an extra 9 milliseconds in your driveway.

I generally agree with you oohpapi44, but the title of this thread is "annoyances". Perhaps we should start a separate thread like "delights" so we get more balance in the discussion. In the meantime, the very nature of this thread is for people to share the things they wish Lexus would have implemented differently. If I was Lexus, and really practiced the "pursuit of perfection" I would pay attention to what enthusiasts on boards like this had to say - along with surveys, focus groups and other mechanisms for collecting feedback.
Anyway, I do agree for the most part, but expect criticisms on this particular thread, even if some of them are a bit petty. Nevertheless, this thread is for annoyances and many of the items identified here are at the very least, disappointing.
